The 60s marked a decline of the involvement of the mafia in Vegas; an eccentric billionaire called Howard Hughes managed to change the law in Nevada that prevented corporations to buy interests in casinos. He forced the remaining mob owners out by buying up 17 of their casinos. Disappointed with the way his investment was performing, Hughes sold up and left Vegas in the 70s prompting a return of the mob, however it was short lived..

The 80s saw a major crack down on mob involvement in casinos and hotels with the FBI leading the way, the resorts were cleaned up and sold to legitimate owners and the city was transformed into a holiday destination.. As a result Las Vegas Strip has an annual turnover of more than $5.5 billion, an astonishing figure that the mob would never realise.

Asia is about to go poker crazy as a new movie has just premiered in Hong Kong that will be sure to take the cinemas by storm. Already Texas Hold’em Poker is seeing a gain in worldwide players and is bound to get far more players once the movie is officially released.

The story is about two poker playing rivals from Asia who are competing for the same title in a competition.

The movie was filmed in the world famous Asian casino capital of Macau and has already caused a stir when hundreds of players arrived at the city during the APT Macau Festival last August while the film was being shot. The film had plenty of willing extras as poker players flocked to the shoot to try to get a place in the film.
