Horse Racing Betting The Easy Way
Horse racing betting is a fun and exhilarating way to enjoy an afternoon. Whether betting at your local horse racing track or online, for the newcomer there are a few things that one should know.
The whole point to the game is to beat the odds, which are set by someone called an Oddsmaker. The way to place your bet is through Sports Books, either physically, or online. The Sports Book allows you to place your bets, but the Oddsmaker is the person who actually sets the betting odds.
There are many different kinds of bets, the most commonly used one being the Straight bet. As the name implies, the only way to win with this betting option is if your horse crosses the finish line first. Place means that you can take winnings if your chosen horse crosses the finish line in either first or second place.
The Show Bet is a placed so that your pick can finish first, second or third and still win you money on the bet. As we go down the list of betting options, you will notice that things become more convoluted and therefore more interesting! Choose the Combination Bet if you wish to pick up to four horses to cross the finish line in a specified order.
Pick 3 is an option that allows the person betting to predict the winner of 3 races in a row. The Pick 6 is very similar, but here the person can choose the winning horses in the following six consecutive races. Depending on the racetrack, some will give you the option to choose between three consecutive sets of six races each during the day.
The Quiniela or the Reverse Forecast is a UK concept offering the option to choose the winning or second place horses in two consecutive races in any order. You can choose the Perfecta or Straight Forecast betting option to choose two horses to finish in a set order of first and second place.
The Treble Forecast, as the name suggests, allows you to bet on three horses to finish in a specified order. If you place a Superfecta bet, you would choose four horses to cross the finish line in a specific order. If you wager on the Daily Double you would choose the horses that are your favourites to win both the first as well as the second race being run that day. If you thought horse race betting was easy, I’m sure you will be surprised!. If you want to bet on a chance with the Jackpot, you would pick six winning horses and then you would share in a portion of the racetrack’s daily jackpot prize.
Parlay or Accumulator betting will allow you to place simultaneous bets on two or more races for that chosen day. Future betting is made on upcoming races that have not yet been run. This will most likely vary depending on the racetrack you are betting at.
I’m sure you’ll agree that horse racing betting is complicated and exciting, offering a varied number of betting options. A measure of luck and skill are needed to be successful at it and a good background of the sport will certainly help.
